Just sing it and tell the story forget what the teacher saying.
Who's version of Send In The Clowns do you prefer? Judy Collins vs. Barbara Streisand? For me, Barbara has the better voice but she highlights her vocals at expense of the words. Judy Collins doesn't have a voice a beautiful as Barbara's but Judy's version is more searching, more about the doubt, the pain, and the resignation. There's a quiet solitude she's brings to this song. For me, Judy Collins sings the definitive Sing In The Clowns. What's your opinion?
beautiful man <3
Sound dude teaching and he can't do it so it goes those that cant will teach those that can
For my mama and my papa thank you for everything ❤️🕊️
I get a way different meaning as Sondhein , as meanings and values change, BLM makes this teaching almost clownish. Easy to read racial politics and pathos into this tune as I can.
Is it wrong that in love his voice? It’s rough in spots but it adds to his performance for me and his “my blue eyed Sarah” and all the parts after are just amazing!
does anyone know who the amy is? did she ever land in acting/theater?
Steve McMorran has an acoustic version out folks. It’s pretty fabulous! Also, check out Steve’s song “Saving Us Tonight.” It’s definitely a hidden gem of a song.
Why would Sondheim lower himself?
The male singer is so bad. How did he get an audience with Sondheim?
when i first discovered this video her breath control literally BLEWW me away👏🏾👏🏾❤️
C'mon. Did she have to kill it like that? Astounding ❤
She’s fantastic. Able to express such emotions and IN FRONT of Sondheim no less, she kept composure. I personally would be a wreck. It goes to show, this song is an ACTED song. Anyone can sing it, but to convey the emotions with ONLY voice, that is pure talent.
Amy is a fabulous singer.
It's the only musical theater piece I could never sing.......Just heard it performed live tonight. Amazing.
I really liked Sam Mendes' take on Cabaret, but really don't like this version of Company
sondheim was such a gem, such a beautiful being.
Im impressed that this wolf's head looks reall really good. The animatronics on the ears, tongue, eyes, and mouth. I wish other productions had this.
The creator process is so important to capture. Thank you.
I wonder what year that was... around 1981?
I hate to see bullying of a young student that we're getting in the comments here. Failure is vital in learning, and he was brave to put himself in front of the camera and class. Unless you know for a fact that Paul was lazy and deliberately didn't prepare, keep your mouth shut, with grace, as Sondheim did.
I can't believe she's 104
Ha its my birthday n this is my tune today ha 4561zmy number
Am I the only one who hears the similarities between Sondheim and Jeff Goldblum?
Is there a part two
He wrote this for Glynis Johns, who was not a "singer". When you experience this song when seeing a performance of A Little Night Music, it is much more intense.
One of the many great things about the London production, was that when the Giant kills the narrator, they dropped his body from the top of the theatre onto the stage (it was a dummy) the whole audience gasped.
Incomparable. A superb representation of her unique art. It may be the most beautiful & definitive version of this that I have yet to hear. There are many fine interpretations out there but Cleo‘s is in a class all its own.
Beautifull from billericay dicky
It's so brilliant, and a note of a good teacher, when he ignores flat/sharpe etc notes and gives feedback on performance etc... he knows that the singer knows the note is off... he doesn't need to bring attention to it.... he wants the "energy". What amazing experience it seems to have performed for him.
Supreme
Who is this actress?
Incredible voice
I just wish the guy singing wasn’t so dry
She's awesome
I love listening to Sondheim speak about his art. It seems to touch upon more than simple mechanics.
Too bad he couldnt live forever but as Shakespeare wrote: as long as we have your lines it gives life to thee... paraphrasing but you know what I mean!
Aww I loved this man so much for giving us such beautiful music. You can see the kindness and pride in his face as his songs are sung.
He needs someone older
6:29 the ultimate look of satisfaction
Cotton, the GINGER Kitten 😺 my song dedication love from Australia 🇦🇺
Ha shold b golden x
Watch this at .25 playback speed.
Apparently the actress who played Amy here died just this past summer :(
To watch this same singer/actor (Bryan Terfel) decades later, play Sweeney: ua-cam.com/video/uud6MZRBzEY/v-deo.htmlsi=PLviVDTVJdSNxB4U Around 22:23 he sings this! He’s matured quite a bit. Enjoy!
06:25 In Rhodesia, the lyric is: * "Don't you love arse!"
A brilliant song but the question is did he really leave her? I think he didn’t, he is just saying what he would do if he had the nerve to. After all he “left that girl so many times before” but there he still was. Love is not simple.
I love this woman's voice. Wish we could see the entire "teaching" moment here.
I adore Cleo Lane and love her signing Sondheim ..Saw her at the Gold Coast Fantastic. So pleased I did.
